Announcements for November 23

  1. Welcome to our English worship. If you are a visitor with us today or this is your first time at Jaffray Church, please take time to complete the new comers’ card and let us know about you.

  2. Aletheia Fellowship Program: Bible Study this Friday! BYOB. 8pm at the Lounge : )

  3. Hosanna Fellowship Program: Bible Study @ 8PM @ Church! Be there!

  4. In the last 2 weeks, pledges for the Mission Fund have a total of $53,760. The goal is set at $138,650. If there are others who would like to pledge today, please fill in the pledge form, and put it into the offering box. We also encourage each family pick up one copy of Mission handbook.

  5. We thank the Lord, at the Annual General Meeting last Sunday, the church members have elected 3 nominees as 2009 elders: Peter So, Sam Wong and Tammy Wong. Together with Alfred Mo, Patrick So & Danny Soo, they will form the Board of Elders for 2009. The 2009 budget was also adopted. Please pray for the new Church Board as they will be allocating departmental responsibilities and appointing deacons/deaconess positions.

  6. A new Sunday School term will be starting in December! Please fill in your choices in the bulletin insert, and hand your form to Holly Chau, Sophia Kwan, or your Sunday School teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with Holly Chau.

  7. “Discerning Our Vocation @ Work” seminar by Enoch Wong and Peter Lau will be held on Friday November 28 at 8pm in the Fellowship Hall. All are invited to attend. For more information, please contact elder Alfred Mo.

  8. Winter Retreat ‘09 is coming SOON (Jan 2-4)! Registration starts TODAY! So sign up with Adrian in the foyer. Early Bird ends Nov. 30!!! First come first serve. Teen (Age 12-19, inclusive) $110 and Adult (Age 19+) $120. For more information, please visit: www.tjcac.org/english/winter_retreat.

  9. Photos taken at the 20th Church Anniversary morning service and evening banquet are posted at the east side by the entrance, brothers and sisters are welcome to browse. This time we offer a photo reprint service. Those who would like to place an order, each single 4×6 is 25 cents (tax included).

  10. Our brother Victor Chin will begin his 8-month pastoral internship at Pickering Chinese Baptist Church starting December. Please support him in prayer.

  11. Pastor Arthur will be on vacation from November 24 to December 2. He will return to the office by Wednesday December 3.

OTHERS:

  1. There are six Operation Christmas Child boxes that are missing cheques. If you put those boxes together, please provide a cheque to Victor Chin as soon as possible.

  3. Chosen People Ministries presents Handel’s Messiah featuring Baroque Ensemble at The Floral Hall, Toronto Botanical Garden (@ Edwards Gardens) on Tuesday December 16 at 7:30pm. $25 at the door, $20 in advance (416.250.0177).

  4. Focus on the Family presents “Focus on Marriage” simulcast at Westney Heights Baptist Church in Ajax on Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 9:30-4:30pm. The cost is $49CAN/couple until December 22, $59US afterwards. Please contact wendy@westney.ca for more information or visit www.westney.ca.

  5. Once every four years the Chinese C&MA Churches in Canada have a special nation-wide gathering known as the Joint Missions Convention. The upcoming Jmc in 2009 will be on July 1-5 at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. The theme will be “All for Jesus, Jesus for All.” Please prayerfully plan ahead to reserve time to be apart of this momentous event. More information will be available in February 2009.   6. After talking to Yvonne & learning about her family’s long-term financial needs, the CCACA has encouraged all CAC churches to make memorial donations to Rev. Geoffrey Liu’s family, with cheques payable to Mrs. Yvonne Lui. These love gifts can be sent directly to her. Her mailing address is: Apt 230, 20 Carlton St., Toronto, ON M5B 2H5. This donation will not have tax receipt because of its personal nature.

-GUESS WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK??!!

-WHAT?!

-REC!!!!!!

That’s right!!  This week is REC at Savio!  And it’s not even the normal rec…it’s REMEMBERING REMEMBRANCE DAY REC!!  So 7:45 PM (NOT 8!!!), BE THERE…or else…uh…JUST BE THERE!! =D

And for those of you in need…Savio is at 50 Tideswell Blvd…so saying “I got lost” is NOT a valid excuse! xd
