Announcements for February 1

  1. Welcome to our English worship. If you are a visitor with us today or this is your first time at Jaffray Church, please take time to complete the new comers’ card and let us know about you.
  2. Praise the Lord! Seventeen deacons will officially begin their ministry today. Please pray for them as they serve along side with the elders in their respective departments. Please see the attached bulletin insert for their ministry posts.
  3. Hosanna Fellowship: HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEARS! WOOOO~ “Party” at Auntie Gloria’s :)You should have received an invitation by now, but if not…FIND TRISTAN POON! Please visit www.tjcac.org/english/hosanna for further details!
  4. Aletheia Fellowship: Oooh, more Knowing in the form of Bible study! Bring your Bible and thinking cap. 8pm at the Lounge!
  5. English Ministry Committee (EMC) will be meeting today at 12:30pm in the Boardroom.
  6. The monthly fellowship luncheon will be held on Feb 15 at 12pm. Timothy Fellowship & Youth Career Group will do the setting up and clear up of the lunch program.
  7. The English Congregation will be taking their first annual photo on Sunday, February 15 after the service.
  8. The Family Ministry is once again promoting the family spirit on Sunday, February 15, “We © Our Family”, from 1:30-3:30pm. We encourage the entire congregation to stay behind after the service for this family program.
  9. 2009 Church Directory - Please verify the draft copy on the table outside, and initial it after checking within these 2 weeks. If you prefer not having your address shown on the directory, please indicate on the draft. Newcomers joined our church in the last year are encouraged to fill in the details on the table provided, so that your information can be included in the new directory.

  1. Alliance Joint Mission Conference, “All for Jesus, Jesus for All.” will be held on July 1-5 at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. Early bird deadline for registration is Feb. 22, 2009. Those who wish to apply for church subsidy, early bird deadline for subsidy application is Feb. 8.   2. Teens Conference 2009 is just around the corner! This year TC, “Re:Connect”, will be held from March 16-19. Registration forms are available online at http://www.afc-ca.org/. For more information, please contact Rebecca Chan at 416.494.7171 or tc@afc-ca.org.
  3. Urbana 2009 registration site is now live! Urbana is a global missions conference sponsored by Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship for university-bound grade 12, university, and graduate students. The theme is “The Word Became Flesh, He Dwelled Among Us”. The conference will be held in St. Louis, Missouri from December 27-31. For more updated information, and to register, please go to www.urbana.org. If you require subsidy, please speak the pastor or missions elder.
  4. Centre for Mentorship and Theological Reflection will be presenting “The Cross, Suffering and Spiritual Bewilderment” at Tyndale Seminary on Thursday June 18 from 6:30-9:30pm. Speakers for this year include: Dr. Alister McGrath (Oxford University), Dr. Michael Haykin (Southern Baptist Theological Seminary), and Dr. Dennis Ngien (Founder, Centre for Mentorship and Theological Reflection).   1. Welcome to our English worship. If you are a visitor with us today or this is your first time at Jaffray Church, please take time to complete the new comers’ card and let us know about you.
  2. All baptized Christians are welcome to partake the Holy Communion.
  3. Hosanna Fellowship: MMMMM…Spiritual Steak Night :D sounds yummy no? :) So come to Church at 8PM and get your share of the steak :P
  4. Aletheia Fellowship: Knowing includes an awareness of what God is doing in the world. Join us at Prayer Night this Friday to pray for the great and small things around us! Aletheia Lounge, 8pm.
  5. The English Congregation will be taking a “congregation” picture today. The service will end around 10am and everyone will be asked to gather at the stage for the picture.
  6. Junior Choir practices resumes today from 12:15-1:15pm in the Choir Room..
  7. 2008 offering records are posted in the east-foyer bulletin board. If there are any questions / inquiries, please contact the Finance department before January 24. Note: China earthquake relief donations will be covered by a separate tax receipt issue by World Vision, once our Finance Department receives the receipt it will be given to those who made the donations.
  8. Pastor Arthur will be visiting the university students in Hamilton and Waterloo from January 20-23. Please pray for his safety on the roads.

  1. Toronto Simpson CAC presents four lectures by Dr. Victor Shepherd, Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology of Tyndale Seminary, on Feb 10, 24, March 10, 24 from7:30pm-9:30pm. Please sign up on the west-foyer usher’s table as soon as possible.

  3. Once every four years the Chinese C&MA Churches in Canada have a special nation-wide gathering known as the Joint Missions Convention. The upcoming JMC in 2009 will be on July 1-5 at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. The theme will be “All for Jesus, Jesus for All.” Please prayerfully plan ahead to reserve time to be apart of this momentous event. More information will be available in February 2009.

Jan 30-Slip and Slide…

Tobogganing is cancelled. Instead, we will be on Friday at 8 pm as per usual. Please dress EXTREMELY WARMLY as we will be spending a lot of time outdoors. It would be even better if everyone wears waterproof clothes. Please also bring a flashlight.
