FAMILY MATTERS

1. Welcome to our English worship. If you are a visitor with us today or this is your first time at Jaffray Church, please take time to complete the new comers’ card and let us know about you.

2. Tomorrow will be the start of Trail Mix 2009 and we are excited to see what God has in store for us! The camp is running up until the end of summer; please keep the staff, volunteers, and campers in your prayers.

3. English prayer meetings are held on Tuesdays from 8-9pm in the Church Office.

4. Aletheia Fellowship: Movie Nite! We’ll be watching the critically acclaimed movie, “Fireproof”, in the Sanctuary. Movie starts 8pm sharp!!! Invite your friends!!!

5. Hosanna Fellowship: Brian Pengelly from New Directions Ministry will be conducting a workshop on addictions (e.g. pornography, internet, video games). Please join us 8pm in the Fellowship Hall Office Basement.

6. A Membership Meeting will be held next Sunday August 9 at 12:15pm, for the purpose of electing two members from the floor, who will be joining the two Elder Board representatives, being Alfred Mo and Peter So, and the Elder Board Chair, Rev. Paul Ting, to form the 2010 Elders Nominating Committee. All members are encouraged to attend. The agenda and Active Membership List have been posted on the Elder Board bulletin board.

7. Mosaic “Fireproof” Movie Night will be held on Saturday August 15 from 5:30-8pm @ Vincent Ho’s home (potluck dinner). For directions, please email mosaic@tjcac.org.

8. English Prayer Net has begun! If you are committed to praying for Jaffray, please sign up with Bora Gunn (prayer@tjcac.org) as soon as possible. Bora will email you weekly prayer items so you can pray even if you cannot make it to prayer meetings.

9. Pastor Arthur will be away on vacation from August 7-12. He will return to the office by August 13.

Others:

1. Toronto Resound is a showcase of performances and artistic expression celebrating the stories that have come out of AFC’s (Ambassadors for Christ) student ministry. It will be held at the Fairview Library Theatre on Tuesday September 1 at 7pm. For tickets please call AFC @ 416-494-7171.

2. Frosh ConneXion 2009 will be held on Thursday August 27 from 6-9pm at Toronto Chinese Methodist Church. It is a networking event designed to connect incoming first-year university students to campus fellowships across Ontario. It is free for first-year students, $5 for upper year students. BBQ is included. For more information, please contact fx@afc-ca.org.

Because praying is so so powerful and important, Hosanna will be having a PRAYER WALK around the neighbourhood this week!! :D

So meet in front of the sanctuary not in it at 8 pm.

3. Aletheia Fellowship: We will be going to the ROM to see the Dead Sea Scrolls on Saturday, August 1st from 11:30am-1:30pm!! If you are interested in going, please register with Dorinda Mui (dorrrie@gmail.com). Deadline to register is TODAY! so, REGISTER NOW!

4. Hosanna Fellowship: Prayer Walk – meet in church sanctuary Friday 8pm.

6. The TJCAC Panama STM team will be leaving on the morning of July 31st. They will be arriving at the airport at 9:00 a.m. for their 11:30 a.m. Flight #CO3217 out of Terminal 3. Brothers and sisters who wish to see the team off are encouraged to come and pray for the team at the airport at 9:00 a.m.The team will continue to covet your prayer support during their 13-day trip in Panama

7. TrailMix Summer Camp registration is well underway! Registration forms are available outside the sanctuary, and you may submit completed forms to Pastor Gunn or Grace Hsu. Newcomers and friends will receive a special rate of only $50/week during the camp. Parents, we have a great opportunity to evangelize so please spread the word to your family and friends!

1. Creation Ministries International presents “Deconstructing Darwin”, an apologetics conference geared towards answering questions on creation, authority of scripture, and science & faith. Speakers include: Calvin Smith, Dr. Emil Silvestru, and Rev. Joe Boot. The conference will be held from October 3 & 4, 2009 at Westminster Chapel.
