FAMILY MATTERS

  1. Welcome to our worship. If you are a visitor with us today or this is your first time at Jaffray Church, please take time to complete the new comers’ card and let us know about you.

  2. Prayer meetings are held on Wednesdays from 8-9pm in the church office.

  3. Hosanna Fellowship program: Bible Study this Friday @8pm at church.

  4. Aletheia Fellowship will be making special care packages for the out-of-towners! We start the creativity in the white house @ 8pm. see you there!

  5. Urbana sharing will be held today at 12pm in room B7. Come and listen to some of the testimonies, stories, and convictions of those that attended. Lunch is $3 / person. Questions? Please contact Cynthia So.

  6. To celebrate Family Day, the first day of Chinese New Year, and Valentine’s Day, there will be a special program held on Sunday Feb. 14 from 11:45-12:15pm in the sanctuary. All are invited to come. There will be a light snack after the program. Come join us! Family Ministry would like to encourage brothers and sisters to invite other families to have meals together at their homes during this Family Day holiday, to enjoy the time together.

  7. 2010 Church Directory - Please verify the draft copy on the table outside, and initial it after checking within these 3 weeks. If you prefer not having your address shown on the directory, please indicate on the draft. Newcomers joined our church in the last year are encouraged to fill in the details on the table provided, so that your information can be included in the new directory.

Brief report from the Elder’s Board meeting:

  1. We thank the Lord that many brothers and sisters have accepted the invitation to be deacons. Commissioning of deacons will take place on Sunday February 7 during the services.

  2. Summer retreat will be held from July 16-18. Planning is well on its way.

  3. Two pastoral search committees has been established to look for assistant pastors for both Chinese and English congregation, respectively.

  4. The tentative church direction for 2010 is in the area of spiritual growth and renewal. The specific theme will be discussed at the next Board meeting.

  5. In response to the Haiti earthquake, the Board has set aside a donation of $10000 for the C&MA’s Global Emergency Response Fund. The next steps for Jaffray’s response will be determined in the near future.
