Baptisms

Baptism is a central and core belief of our faith. We believe that baptism does not take away sin in any way; it symbolizes the death, resurrection, and glory of Christ. The Bible urges those who believe to be baptized; in fact, the Bible records thousands accepting and becoming baptized each day.

In Acts 2:38, it says: Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”. We affirm that baptism is tertiary to repenting sins, and accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour. Our baptism is a public declaration to the world that God is alive and working inside of us! As well, our baptism identifies us as a member of the body of Christ at Jaffray.

Every Easter and Christmas, Jaffray holds a baptism service. To be eligible for baptism, candidates must and go through baptismal classes with Reverend Arthur Wong (arthur.wong@utoronto.ca) as well as affirm their personal relationship with Christ. Sign up for the classes begin one month prior to the service. If you’re interested in learning more, please email Arthur or attend the Alpha and Foundation Sunday Schools.
