Once every four years the Chinese C&MA Churches in Canada have a special nation-wide gathering known as the Joint Missions Convention. The upcoming Jmc in 2009 will be on July 1-5 at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. The theme will be “All for Jesus, Jesus for All.” Please prayerfully plan ahead to reserve time to be apart of this momentous event. More information will be available in February 2009. If you have any questions, please contact: Rev. Titus Yu, 2009 JMC Promotions.
After talking to Yvonne & learning about her family’s long-term financial needs, the CCACA has encouraged all CAC churches to make memorial donations to Rev. Geoffrey Liu’s family, with cheques payable to Mrs. Yvonne Lui. These love gifts can be sent directly to her. Her mailing address is: Apt 230, 20 Carlton St., Toronto, ON M5B 2H5. This donation will not have tax receipt because of its personal nature.

In the last 2 weeks, pledges for the Mission Fund have a total of $53,760. The goal is set at $138,650. If there are others who would like to pledge today, please fill in the pledge form, and put it into the offering box. We also encourage each family pick up one copy of Mission handbook.
We thank the Lord, at the Annual General Meeting last Sunday, the church members have elected 3 nominees as 2009 elders: Peter So, Sam Wong and Tammy Wong. Together with Alfred Mo, Patrick So & Danny Soo, they will form the Board of Elders for 2009. The 2009 budget was also adopted. Please pray for the new Church Board as they will be allocating departmental responsibilities and appointing deacons/deaconess positions.
A new Sunday School term will be starting in December! Please fill in your choices in the bulletin insert, and hand your form to Holly Chau, Sophia Kwan, or your Sunday School teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with Holly Chau.

Operation Christmas Child is an annual ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. They help distribute millions of Christmas gifts and Gospel tracts in shoe boxes to needy children around the word. Parents are asked to help your children to place gifts in a shoe box as instructed by the flyer, with $7 cheque for postage. Please bring the gift boxes back to the church office next Sunday. Flyers & shoe boxes can be picked up outside the sanctuary. Please contact deacon Victor Chin for information.

Looking forward to hearing from the captain hopefuls!

The topic of discussion will be on mentorship. Other brothers and sisters are also invited to attend. Lunch will be provided. The Outreach ministry is planning to deliver flyers to our neighborhood to advertise the tutoring program on October 19, 12-1pm. Please come out to help! If you are interested in becoming a tutor for the upcoming terms, please contact Adrian Yu.

The Board of Elders has approved the hiring of Pastor Matthew Gunn to serve as the Assistant English Pastor for a one-year term starting November 1, 2008. His main role will be to pastor the children as well as assist in the junior high and youth ministry. Please extend a warm welcome to Pastor Matthew and his wife Bora.

There will be FIVE mandatory leadership development sessions: Nov 1 (AFC), Dec 6 (AFC), Jan 10 (TCMC), Feb 7 (TCMC, with coaches), Feb 14 (AFC, optional), and Feb 21 (TCMC). Operation Christmas Child is an annual ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. They help distribute millions of Christmas gifts and Gospel tracts in shoe boxes to needy children around the word. Parents are asked to help your children to place gifts in a shoe box as instructed by the flyer, with $7 cheque for postage. Please bring the gift boxes back to the church office on or before Nov 16(Sun). Flyers & shoe boxes can be picked up outside the sanctuary. Please contact deacon Victor Chin for information.

Jaffray Leadership Retreat will be held on Saturday October 25 (Sat) from 9:30am-4pm. Jaffray’s leaders (e.g. elders, deacons, cell group leaders, ministry coordinators) are invited to attend. The topic of discussion will be on mentorship. Other brothers and sisters are also invited to attend. Lunch will be provided. The Annual General Membership Meeting will be held on November 16 at 12:15pm, for the election of the 2009 elders and approval of the 2009 fiscal budget. A financial consultation meeting has been planned on October 26 at 12:15pm. All members are encouraged to attend. The proposed 2009 budget is available for picking up outside the sanctuary.
Our TJCAC Annual Mission Conference will be held on November 7-9 (Fri-Sun). The speaker is Rev. Jonathan Teo and our theme is “Lord, please send me”. Please plan to attend all sessions.
The Outreach ministry is planning to deliver flyers to our neighborhood to advertise the tutoring program on October 19, 12-1pm. Please come out to help! If you are interested in becoming a tutor for the upcoming terms, please contact Adrian Yu.

The Board of Elders has approved the hiring of Pastor Matthew Gunn to serve as the Assistant English Pastor for a one-year term starting November 1, 2008. His main role will be to pastor the children as well as assist in the junior high and youth ministry. Please extend a warm welcome to Pastor Matthew and his wife Bora.

Children Ministry Sunday will be held on Thanksgiving Joint Service. Promiseland children are asked to be seated in the sanctuary at 10:30am.
Junior Choir has a practice today from 12:15-1:15pm in the Choir Room. Practices are now reschedule to be every 1st and 3rd Sunday from 12:15-1:15pm in the Choir Room.
